The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) – Remote Northern Transportation Office operates 29 airports serving small communities in northern Ontario. The client wanted to provide its managers with comprehensive training on the Safety Management System. OCTANT Aviation designed tailored courses featuring:
- The fundamentals of SMS;
- Root cause analysis and investigation;
- Quality assurance and audit;
- Human factors.
The training, which was originally scheduled to take place at the MTO headquarters, was ultimately delivered online. This method was chosen due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has proven to be just as effective and popular among managers. It has also had the effect of generating significant cost savings for the MTO.
