Atmane, tell us a little about yourself!
I was born in Algeria. I left my country to move to the United States, where I worked as a passenger service agent at JFK Airport in New York City. From there, in 2018, I went to Quebec to take my flight dispatcher course at the Centre de formation en transport de Charlesbourg. As part of my training, I did a flight dispatcher internship at OCTANT Aviation. After my internship, OCTANT called me back to work for them as station manager for a major mining company in Nunavut. A 12-week work experience that I loved! I currently hold the position of administrative & contract manager after having started at OCTANT Aviation as the operations coordinator.
And what is your role at OCTANT?
I have a number of tasks that can vary quite a bit. That’s what makes working for a small company that is growing so interesting! I coordinate the administrative operations related to chartered and medevac flights for a health care organization. I also ensure compliance with the contractual framework, compile statistics, and analyze them. Our objective is to rigorously monitor operations with the goal of being able to adapt to changes as soon as they emerge.
What are your plans for the future?
I wish to continue my development in the air transport field… and working at OCTANT Aviation serves me very well in this regard! Among other projects, we are currently working on setting up a new flight coordination center to serve our other customers. I believe that the next year will bring me many new challenges!
